USS ENTERPRISE BRIDGE REDESIGN

The redesign of the Bridge required an opening up of the set to make it more camera friendly.
The redesign also involved updating the monitors and control panels,
the widening of the view-screen and the introduction of the ‘Kelvin Pod’ escape pods.
Unfortunately, the weapons console behind the captain’s chair and the open glass dome in the ceiling
had to be abandoned due to time constraints.
I also got rid of a few dozen of JJ Abrams’ ‘lens flare generators’. Yer welcome.

USS ENTERPRISE BRIDGE – POST CRASH

Part of the redesign of the Bridge entailed a metal framework that would allow
the set to be tilted more than forty degrees, as seen in these photos.

MANUAL RELEASE ROOM

I worked with Stunts, Special Effects, Set Decoration and Construction to design a room that could
roll a full 180 degrees while leaving platforms for stunt performers and actors to perform
a long series of stunts leading to the release of the saucer section of the ship.
(The process is described in the video below.)

YORKTOWN SPACE STATION – GRAVITATIONAL NEXUS

This set was unusual in that it was actually built in Dubai, UAE,  not in Vancouver.
It was designed to be completely modular so that could be disassembled as needed to allow for the cables supporting the stunt performers and the actors.
I worked with a local engineering firm to ensure the structural rigidity required for the stunts.
(To add to the fun, it had to be done completely in metric, using metric materials and fasteners.)

As far as I know, this is the only replicator built for the Star Trek ‘Kelvin timeline’.
(I’m sure there are many who will correct me if I am wrong.)
